Mastering the Art of Signwriting is a new online course designed to assist lettering artists to develop and improve their signwriting skills.
The course is divided into four modules, each with three units, covering Foundation Skills, Lettering Skills, Advanced Skills, and Professional Skills. The signature 12 step method provides a comprehensive approach that will guide you through the process of signwriting with confidence.
This course is perfect for anyone looking to take their signwriting skills to the next level.
You can choose to either purchase one unit at a time or package them into a bundle, all units will be downloadable and can be completed at your own pace. There will be an online forum for feedback and community connection as
well as the opportunity to work one on one via private
zoom sessions for further tuition after each unit.
The four skills-based modules are as follows:
MODULE 1 - FOUNDATION SKILLS
In this module you will learn:
Unit 1 - Brush skills,
Unit 2 - Letter construction and proportion
Unit 3 - Letter spacing
After completing all 3 units, you will have Mastered the Art of Signwriting Fundamentals.
MODULE 2 - LETTERING SKILLS
In this module you will learn:
Unit 1 - Casual and Block lettering
Unit 2 - Script and Serif lettering
Unit 3 - Decorative lettering from a Block Letter
After completion of all 3 units, you will have Mastered the Art of Letter Construction.
MODULE 3 - ADVANCED SKILLS
In this module you will learn:
Unit 1 - The basics of colour theory for signage
Unit 2 - Design and Layout for signage
Unit 3 - Basic Gilding Techniques for signage
After completion of all 3 units you will have Mastered the Art of Advanced Signwriting Techniques.
MODULE 4 - PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
In this module you will learn:
Unit 1 - Surface Preparation for various sign substrates
Unit 2 - Quoting and Materials for pricing signage
Unit 3 - Assisting you to brand your own signwriting business.
The units will be rolled out over a period of 12 months with the first unit from Module 1 “Mastering the Art of Brush Skills” being released mid August 2023.
